The
two teams of the Cincinnati Rollergirls roller derby league saw a
record crowd of more than 1,800 fans at Cincinnati Gardens Saturday
in splitting their hope opener with Ft. Wayne.
The Cincinnati All star squad known as
the Black Sheep jumped out to a 18-3 lead after just three
james and never looked back, trouncing the Bomb Squad of the
Ft. Wayne (Indiana) Derby Girls 100-35. In the first bout of the night,
Ft. Wayne's Flyin' Squirrels came from behind to beat
Cincinnati's Silent Lambs 73-55.
The Blacksheep were led by Women's
Indoor Flat Track Association all star Sadistic Sadie,
who ammassed 45 jam points. Roseanne Scarr chipped in
with 24 points on the jam, while Hannah Barbaric added
another 21 points. The Blacksheep ran out to a convincing 58-7 lead at
halftime. Blu Bayou and Ruffin' the Passer
also scored points for Cincinnati. The win improved the Blacksheep's
2008 record to 3-0. The Blacksheep will next skate on May 10 against
the Massacre of the Boston Derby Dames.
The Silent Lambs of the Cincinnati
Rollergirls opened their 2008 season falling to the Flyin' Squirrels of
Ft. Wayne. The Lambs led 39-33 at halftime, but were outscored 40-16 in
the second half. CandyKicks ammassed 26 jam
points for Cincinnati's Silent Lambs, to lead her team. Dr.
McDerby chipped in with 18 in a losing effort for the Lambs.
The Cincinnati Rollergirls will next
skate at the Cincinnati Gardens on Saturday May 17 at 7:00 p.m against
the Philadelphia Rollergirls. The bout will feature a doubleheader, as
the Blacksheep will dual with the Liberty Belle's and the
Silent Lambs will go up against one of the other teams from
Philly. Tickets are $10 in advance for adults and $15 the day of the
show. Tickets for kids ages 12 and under are $5 in advance and $7.50
